Our Facilities

THE COLLECTION

Available Resources are comprised of books (open collection, reserve and reference), pamphlets, Audiovisual cassettes, newspapers & magazines (which can only be used in the library), past examination papers, research reports, presentations and bound newspapers for research purposes.  Some of the set books are on CDROMs, audio and video cassettes.  The TV and video cassette players are available for use in the library at any time on request.

– Photocopying – Self – service card copier is available for users. Photocopying Cards may be purchased from the library which includes photocopying units of M5.00 (the card is not disposable and can be sold to another student). Units may be purchased at a minimum of M5.00 (Enquire at circulation).

Internet – The LP Library provides to all members, free access to the Internet. However, because of limited computers, users are required to book at the circulation desk before accessing the service.  Personal assistance will be provided on request to students who wish to use the internet.  Library staff is always available to assist in any search queries on the internet.

Resource Sharing – LP Library will assist members to access items available in any library within the country on request.

OPAC- You may now access library OPAC by using any website and search engine, such as yahoo, Google or LP website.

On the top right side window, type any search word of your choice. All items under your search word will be listed. (please note that the URL address can only be accessed within LP campus) Research & Archives at LP Library.

The archives collection and research reports in this Library are an important resource pool for all researchers in the country.  This collection has been recently developed and is still very small but very important.  It is available free to all researchers, staff and students. The resources are accessible between 9.00hrs to 17.00hrs.  However, materials in this section can only be used within the library.

OPENING HOURS

The use of this library is restricted to the official hours of opening;

  • .00hrs to 23hrs p.m – Monday to Thursday
  • 00hrs to 17.00hrs – Friday
  • 00hrs to 13.00hrs – Saturdays
  • 1700hrs to 22.00hrs – Sundays

Any changes will be advertised. This only applies during school time.  During the vacation, the library is open at 0800hrs to 1700hrs from Monday to Friday.

Note: The onus is on the user to familiarize himself/herself with the correct opening and closing hours.

Library Membership

All registered LP members are entitled to free membership of the library.  Each student is allowed to borrow six books at a time for a period of one month.

HOW TO LOCATE INFORMATION

Information is retrieved by means of consulting a catalogue. This is arranged alphabetically by author, title and subject. If you are unable to locate material you want, please contact any member of library staff to assist.
