𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿-𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿


𝐉𝐎𝐁 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘:
Under the general supervision of the Head of Programme Water and Environmental Engineering, the Lecturer | is responsible for teaching and monitoring students on campus and during industrial attachment. S/he conducts curriculum review, internal moderation of examinations, and assists in the overall development of the programme.
𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒:
The key duties of the post are as follows:-
• Teach Geomatics-related courses under Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, as well as other departments and programmes where necessary.
• Prepare lessons and/or training materials, deliver lectures and/or conduct practical sessions for 20 to 24 hours per week.
• Assist the Head of Programme in the development and improvement of the programme.
• Conduct tests and examinations for assessment purposes and maintain updated academic records.
• Monitor students on industrial attachment to obtain feedback on their progress and performance.
• Supervise students’ projects and research activities.
• Participate in curriculum review of geomatics/Engineering Surveying related application courses in the Irrigation and Drainage Engineering programme and other departments to ensure industry relevance and academic quality.
• Participate in community engagement and consultancy activities in geomatics/surveying applications.
• Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Programme or delegated representative.
• Conduct research related to the field of expertise and publish findings in professional journals, periodicals, textbooks, and/or electronic journals.
𝐉𝐎𝐁 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍:
• Minimum of Masters degree in Geomatics, specifically covering Geodesy, Geoinformatics and Engineering Surveying, and an undergraduate degree in Geomatics (BSc/BEng in Geomatics or related field).
𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒:
• At least two (2) years of professional working experience in Geomatics, Surveying or related fields.
• Two (2) years’ field experience in teaching or research work in Geomatics or Engineering Surveying will be an added advantage.
Additionally, the incumbent should:
• Have experience in the use of Civil Designer (or equivalent), Revit, GIS (Geospatial), AutoCAD (draughting), and other related spatial design and analysis packages.
Be able to teach:
• Engineering Surveying
• Topographic Surveying
• GPS/GNSS & Drone Surveying
• GIS and Remote Sensing
• Irrigation and Drainage Infrastructure Layout
𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐄𝐒:
• Self-motivated.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with students from different backgrounds.
• Willingness to supervise students during extra-mural activities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
